The Historic Warrior Run Church has undergone a significant restoration, thanks to the generous support of the Americana Corner Grant Program. The project focused on restoring the church’s four main doors. Each door underwent a meticulous process that included removing hardware, repairing damaged areas, refurbishing existing hardware, stripping, priming, and painting. Longer flush bolts were purchased for both sets of the French styled doors for security, and a missing antique keeper was purchased for the one door latch.

The Warrior Run-Fort Freeland Heritage Society would like to thank the 1994 Charles B. Degenstein Foundation for their generous support in helping fund window and door restoration at the Historic Warrior Run Church, which is now complete.
Owens Historic Preservation Services, LTD. of Freeburg, PA, has done previous restoration at the Historic Warrior Run Church when the site was under the management of the Pennsylvania Historic Museum Commission. The current project, also being handled by Owen’s Preservation, is to restore all twelve windows and two sets of double entry doors. This work included removing the windows from the church, with the majority of the window work happening in Freeburg. There were 244 panes of old glass to remove and reglaze, sashes were primed and painted on both the interior and exterior surfaces. At the church, the counterbalance system within all the window frames was reinstalled for ease of opening and closing the sashes. The exterior window trim was stripped of loose and failing paint, feathering the paint layers to a smooth surface. All bare wood was primed with an alkyd primer and top of a low luster paint to match the current existing trim. Correct period window hardware was installed for both security and ease of using the windows.
