Thank you to Bobby Hughes, Executive Director, Eastern PA Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation (EPCAMR), 101 S. Main Street, Ashley, PA 18706 for sharing these historic Native American Indian tribes and trail maps for our educational purposes. Their EPCAMR volunteer and former AmeriCorps Summer Associate GIS Watershed Outreach Specialist, through Conservation Legacy and the Stewards Individual Placements, Dennis Duke, researched historic maps and developed geographic information system (GIS) layers for Native American tribes, settlements, battles, historic landmarks, villages, streams, and paths of travel, across our entire EPCAMR Region’s 16 counties in NE and NC PA. They will use these layers as a part of our watershed conservation planning efforts when we develop our assessment reports and future implementation plans.
For researchers not familiar with the area, the anthracite coal fields of southern Northumberland County are approximately 50 minutes/33 miles south and east of the Historic Warrior Run Church and Fort Freeland.
