The National DAR Society effort to raise awareness of the courage and sacrifice of the Patriots who won America’s independence through the DAR America 250 Patriots Marker project was announced during the 129th Continental Congress and unveiled a new America 250 Patriots marker.
The program has been established to honor the memory of the men and women with whom we have a sacred compact to ensure that these United States of America continue as a government of the people, by the people, for the people. It is also designed to raise appreciation amongst current and future generations of Americans of our Patriots’ sacrifice for their benefit.
On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the DAR Shikelimo Chapter, the SAR Tiadaghton Chapter, and the Warrior Run-Fort Freeland Heritage Society dedicated the 250 Patriots marker in honor of the 79 Patriots that served our country and are buried at the Historic Warrior Run Church cemetery. The monuments was built by SAR members who gathered local stone, and had both materials and equipment donated.
With almost 100 people in attendance, several dignitaries, DAR and SAR guests, Boy Scout Troop 610, the Fort Augusta Regiment, and the WRFFH Society Board members participated in the event.
